Description

Milestone located in the refuge of Higher New Bridge, likely from the early 19th century. It is made of granite and features a white painted granite post that is rectangular in shape with a rounded top. The post is inscribed with 'L 2'. This milestone relates to the Turnpike road act for roads leading into Launceston, which was passed in 1760.
