Description

This building consists of a barn and a farmworkers cottage located on the east side of the yard at Ham Mill Farm. It dates from the mid-19th century and is constructed of stone rubble with a slate roof featuring hipped ends. There is a small brick axial stack on the right side.

The overall plan is rectangular, likely originally designed as shippons on the ground floor with a loft above. The right side has been altered, probably in the early 20th century, to create a farmworkers cottage.

The building is two storeys high with an asymmetrical front elevation. It features dressed stone segmental arches over the openings. On the left, there are two shippon doors, while the right side has 19th and 20th-century windows in the shippon openings. An entrance has been inserted, and there is a blocked opening to the right of centre. The first floor has a 20th-century window in the centre, a plank door to the loft on the left, and a 2-light casement window inserted in a partly blocked door opening on the right. There are also two slit openings on either side.

This building forms part of a particularly unaltered 19th-century farmyard.
