Description

Ham Mill Farmhouse is a mid-19th century farmhouse constructed from stone rubble with dressed stone quoins, a moulded plinth, and dressed stone arches. It features a slate roof with gable ends on the rear wings and hipped ends on the garden front, along with brick axial and end stacks topped with moulded caps. The overall plan of the house is roughly 'U' shaped, with a small outbuilding attached to the end of the rear right-hand wing.

The garden front has two principal rooms heated by back-to-back fireplaces, and the main entrance is located on the right-hand side. The dairy is situated in the rear right-hand wing, while the kitchen and back kitchen are in the rear left-hand wing, overlooking the farmyard.

The exterior is two storeys high, with the entrance accessed through a gabled 19th-century porch featuring a dressed stone round arch. To the left of the entrance is a 19th-century 12-pane sash window, and above it are two 19th-century three over six-pane sashes. The garden front has a regular two-window arrangement with segmental dressed stone arched openings, including a 19th-century 12-pane sash on the left and a probably early 20th-century canted bay window on the right, supported by granite pilasters. Above, there are two 19th-century three over six-pane sashes.

The left-hand side elevation retains original 19th-century sashes, with the left-hand wing set slightly forward and featuring a later 19th or 20th-century canted bay window on the ground floor. A bellcote containing a 19th-century bell is located on the ridge above the kitchen. The interior is complete with 19th-century fixtures and fittings.
