House, now college. c1860. Coursed Pennant rubble with limestone dressings, ashlar lateral and ridge stacks, slate hipped roof. Double-depth plan. Italianate style with bold Ruskinian detail. 2 storeys and basement; 3-window range. Symmetrical front with quoins, first-floor string and carved brackets to the eaves. Doorcase has 3/4 granite columns with foliate capitals to a semicircular-arched opening, and a good recessed door with a diamond panel. Stilted, keyed segmental-arched ground-floor and semicircular-arched first-floor windows have foliate capitals and plate-glass sashes; 3-light left-hand bow and paired right-hand windows with a central attached column, and balustrades of pierced circles to the ground-floor windows and doorway. First-floor paired outer windows and a single one over the door. Left-hand return has 2 chimney breasts to ashlar stacks, and 2 windows between. INTERIOR: tiled lobby and hall separated by a glazed screen, to a good central stone dogleg winder stair with cast-iron balusters and a large newel; side service stair has stick balusters, column newels and a ramped rail; 6-panel doors, modillion cornice.
