Description

Number 24 is an attached house located on Montague Hill in Kingsdown, Bristol, and it dates back to 1771. The building is roughcast with limestone dressings and features a double-depth plan in the late Georgian style. It stands three storeys tall with a basement and has a two-window range. The parapet has moulded coping, and the right-hand door is adorned with thin brackets supporting a small pediment, along with a rectangular overlight and a six-panel door. The windows are six-over-six pane sashes in flush frames, with smaller windows on the second floor. The basement projects beneath the front area and includes a low, brick segmental-arched doorway. A small plaque on the building is inscribed "BRIMLEY HOUSE/1771."

Inside, there is a flagged through-passage from the hall that is divided by a semicircular arch. The central dogleg stair becomes an open well from the first floor and features slender column balusters and newels. There is also a stair cupboard with HL hinges, as well as panelled shutters and wainscot. The property includes subsidiary features such as capped piers and wrought-iron railings around the front area.
