Description

Number 24, and attached area railings, is a late 18th-century house, now converted into flats. It is constructed of limestone ashlar with stucco, a brick end stack, and a pantile mansard roof. The house follows a double-depth plan and is designed in a mid-Georgian style. The ground floor is rusticated, features pilasters extending to a moulded coping, and has coped gables. The left-hand windows, set lower down in the stairwell, are positioned below the others. The doorcase is framed by pilasters to impost levels and a cornice, including a fanlight above a six-panel door. The ground-floor windows have rusticated voussoirs and contain 6/6-pane sashes, with the windows above the door being more slender. The interior includes panelled shutters and a dogleg staircase with stick balusters. Attached to the front are area railings with urn finials, curving up Pennant steps to the front door.
