Pair of shops. c1885 with C20 alterations. By F.W. Gardiner. MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, roof unseen with moulded stacks to returns. PLAN: Double depth. EXTERIOR: Four storeys, symmetrical four window front. Returned coped parapet, slightly returned cornice and lintel frieze with large paterae. Moulded third floor sill stringcourse, second and ground floor platbands, and first floor sill band. Plate glass sash windows, those to third floor at eaves level, moulded eared architraves with paterae to lintels to second floor, tripartite windows to first floor have consoles supporting entablatures and pediments over central panes. No.32 has simple fascia over plate glass sash windows with tall leaded overlights and central set back half-glazed door with similar overlight. No.33 similar with C20 door, not set back and without leaded overlights. Between shops four panel door with overlight. INTERIORS: Not inspected. HISTORY: A design survives in the City archives showing a shop front rather different from that executed.
