Description
Technology House is a detached villa, now used as offices, dating from the early 19th century with 20th-century additions. It is constructed of ashlar or squared and coursed limestone and features a slate roof. The building has a compact, symmetrical design with two storeys and an attic, and it is arranged with three windows, all of which are twelve-pane sashes with margin panes set into stooled sills. The ground floor windows have square section cornices supported by console brackets. The entrance consists of a flush panelled door set in deep reveals, accompanied by a narrow transom light and a cornice that matches the adjacent windows but is positioned slightly lower. The exterior includes a plinth, frieze band, moulded cornice, blocking and parapet, as well as coped gables with two-stage ashlar stacks located forward of the ridge. Each gable features a small attic light and two roof-lights. The interior has not been inspected. There are extensive late 20th-century additions to the left and rear of the building, which are not included in the listing. Technology House is very similar in form and detail to the adjacent Twerton Villa, indicating that they were likely developed by the same builder.
