Description
Barn Close is a detached villa built in the early 19th century, with a row of buildings existing by 1819. It features late 19th century and 20th century additions. The villa is constructed from limestone ashlar and has a single pitched slate roof with tall moulded stacks at the coped gable ends.
The building has a double depth plan with a 20th century wing added to the right. It stands two storeys high with a basement and presents a symmetrical seven-window front. The facade includes a coped parapet adorned with five gadrooned urns, as well as platbands and sill bands on both floors. The central first floor window is plain and positioned above a semicircular arch that leads to a plain fanlight and a six-raised-panelled door. A moulded archivolt and impost string course separate the full height segmental bays, which are rusticated at the ground floor and contain three windows on each floor. The interior has not been inspected.
