Description

No. 10, Lambridge is an Early 19th century terrace house, part of a row that existed by 1819, with alterations made in the late 19th century. The house is constructed of limestone ashlar with a double-pitched slate roof and a truncated stack on the left. The building has a double-depth plan.

The exterior is three storeys high with a cellar, featuring a four-window front. It has a returned cornice and parapet, a sill band to the second floor, and plate glass windows to the second and ground floors. There are mid-19th century margin-paned French windows with overlights. A good cast iron balcony with supports, formerly belonging to a canopy, is located on the first floor. The right-hand door has five panels, an oval panel to the centre, and a trellised porch sheltered by the balcony.

The interior, recorded by the Bath Preservation Trust in 1994, features a ground floor inner hall with stone skirting and a vestibule window above the door. A stone cantilevered staircase has a wooden and metal string, a metal newel post, and a mahogany handrail which terminates with a small inlay of mother-of-pearl above the newel post. The first-floor drawing room contains a white marble fireplace with a cast iron grate, three full-height windows with French windows below fixed lights, and double connecting doors. The room also has a very ornate cornice and ceiling frieze at the rear, along with a similar fireplace to the front. The second floor has a grey veined white marble mantelpiece with a cast iron hob grate.
