Description
The Woodlands is a detached villa, likely originally two separate houses, now used as offices. It dates from the early 19th century and has undergone some alterations in the 20th century.
The building is constructed of limestone ashlar or rendering and features slate roofs. It has a compact block design with paired hipped roofs behind parapets, and the valley runs parallel to the front.
The exterior is two storeys high with four windows on the ground floor, all of which have been replaced with 20th-century aluminium. The ground floor windows are glazed full depth as French doors and have sunk panels beneath the first-floor openings. The building features end and paired central pilasters with incised panels and wreaths on the frieze at the pilaster heads. There is a mid platband, cornice, blocking course, and parapet. The left side of the building is rendered with similar but simplified details, including three blocked lights and one aluminium sash window. Towards the rear, there is a projecting square porch with a flat roof, featuring 20th-century doors and a transom light. The right side has a centrally located arched stair light, with two stacks at each end.
The interior has not been inspected. Historically, this property would have been isolated, situated at the far end of the Late Georgian development along the Lower Bristol Road in the 19th century.
