Description
Avon House is a detached house that has been converted into commercial premises. It was built in the early 19th century, with some alterations made in the late 19th century. The building features a rendered exterior with some exposed rubble and has a slate roof. It has a single depth symmetrical layout with a full-width addition at the rear that has a swept-down roof.
The house is two storeys high and has five windows, all of which are plain sash windows set in painted plat surrounds with deep stooled sills. The central window on the first floor has an arched head. There is a central pair of doors located in a porch supported by fluted Ionic columns, which lead to a very thin cornice and a low-pitched plain pediment. The inner doors are panelled. The gables are coped and feature tall two-stage ashlar stacks, while the right-hand gable, made of rubble, has an additional small stack at the rear. The interior has not been inspected.
