Description

This is a pair of early 19th-century houses located on the north side of High Street, Twerton. The front of the houses is faced with painted ashlar, while the returns are built with large squared blocks. The roofs are tiled.

The two-storey building has a wide throughway to the right and a single bay section with a separate roof. The first floor has five twelve-pane sash windows, arranged as two, two, and one, with those on number 14 likely original. The ground floor features an early tripartite ten, ten, ten-pane sash window to the left, with fixed side lights. Number 13 has a 20th-century door and a replacement tripartite sash window. To the right of the doorway is a wide opening, which was a shopfront recorded in 1992, carried on a steel beam. The return walls are built with large squared blocks, and there’s a twelve-pane sash window to the left. The left gable has a coped end, while the right-hand end and roof of the end bay are hipped. Two ashlar chimney stacks are present, topped with moulded cornices. The interior has not been inspected.
