Description
No. 6 Nelson Place East is an end of terrace house built in the early 19th century. It is constructed from limestone ashlar and features a hipped slate mansard roof with three dormers and stacks at the rear against No. 5 Nelson Place East. The house has a three-unit plan and stands three storeys tall with an attic, presenting a symmetrical three-window front. The exterior includes a returned coped parapet, a cornice, a ground floor platband, and banded rustication. The windows are six-over-six pane sash windows, with the central first-floor window featuring a cornice supported by consoles. On the ground floor, Tuscan pilasters support a double-stepped frieze and cornice at the centre. The right return facing London Road has a blind window at the centre of the second floor and six-over-six pane sashes below. The interior has not been inspected. This house was likely built as a minister's house for the nearby Walcot Methodist Church.
