Description
No. 8 Ivythorn Villa is a detached house located above Camden Road. It was built in the early 19th century and enlarged in the mid-19th century. The front is made of painted limestone ashlar, and it features a double-pitched double Roman roof with a flat-roofed rear addition and moulded stacks at the gable ends. The house has a double depth plan with a rear addition and stands three storeys high with a symmetrical three-window arrangement. The front has plate glass sash windows, and the mid-19th century castellated attic storey includes a blind window in the center. There is a stopped coved cornice over the first floor, and to the right of a short flight of steps, there are railings leading to a six-panel door that is glazed at the top. The rear range is lower, likely reflecting the height of the early 19th-century house. The interior has not been inspected.
