Description
A pair of houses, originally built in 1736 and later divided from a continuous terrace, with an early 19th-century addition to the rear and 20th-century alterations. The houses are constructed of painted limestone ashlar with a double-pitched roof and moulded stacks to what was formerly a gable end, now the right gable end, and the inside-left of the ridge. They were originally a symmetrical three-window arrangement, but are now two-window ranges each. A continuous, low coped parapet and stopped cornice are present, with a 20th-century rainwater downpipe in the centre. There is a plinth at ground level. Number 12 has six/six-pane sash windows to the second floor, an eight/twelve-pane sash to the right of the first floor, and a tall six/six-pane sash window with three extra panes at the base extending down to the roof of a 20th-century porch. A six/six-pane sash occupies the ground floor to the right. Number 14 features similar windows to Number 12, with some windows being blind. Above the front door is a six/six-pane sash window with a weathered sill above a thin, flat hood supported on panelled sides with simple consoles at the top. The five-panel front door is glazed to the upper half and features bolection moulded panels. The interiors were not inspected. This property demonstrates group value.
