Description
CHURCH LANE Widcombe (West side) The Dell 05/08/75

Detached house. Late C18 with C20 additions. MATERIALS: Painted ashlar, exposed rubble to rear, pantile roofs. PLAN: Double depth symmetrical gabled house with central valley, set into slope with rear wall immediately adjoining road, at south end, towards Prior Park (qv), transverse gabled range, linked to original building by late C20 glazed bay. EXTERIOR: Main front, facing into garden, two storeys, with twelve-pane sashes, three at first floor and two at ground floor, flanking C20 glazed door. Gables coped, with two-stage ashlar stacks. To left single storey extension with low pitched roof, brought forward and with boarded oriel window. To right two storey link, fully glazed, gable of transverse range. Main entrance now in end wall of range. At north end plain gables, and towards road, with only one storey exposed, central sash. INTERIOR: Inspected by Bath Council 1981, first floor little original detail, ground floor modern oak panelling on north wall, C20 extension on west.
