Description

The boundary wall and two sets of gatepiers to Bidston and No. 31 (Bathford House) are located on the north-west side of Church Street in Bathford. This structure dates from the late 18th century and was originally part of Bathford House, which has since been demolished. The wall has a rubble exterior and an ashlar interior, with a coped top. It ramps down Ostlings Lane and ends at the beginning of Church Close, where it features two capped gatepiers. At Bathford House (No. 31 Church Street), there are two additional gatepiers that are rusticated and have a moulded cornice with egg-shaped finials. From the northern pier, the wall returns and ramps down to an ashlar doorcase topped with a pediment, which is said to have been the entrance to the now-demolished Bathford House.
