Description

Bathford House, originally a stable block, dates from the late 18th century. It is constructed of rubble with freestone dressings and quoins, topped by a hipped double Roman tiled roof and a bracketed coved cornice. The building has two storeys and attics with modern dormers, featuring five bays on both the north and east facades.

The north facade displays a series of five tall blocked arches with keystones, with the second arch featuring an ashlar doorcase beneath an open pediment on brackets, leading to a modern door. Above, there are three 2-light casements on the first floor. The east facade is characterized by another tall blocked arch, with a continuous plat band running across the entire facade, aligning with the springing of the arch. The arrangement of sash and casement windows is irregular and asymmetrical, with one window to the right set in an arched opening. A central arch-headed doorcase is also present.

At the north-west corner, a wall from a former garden building extends approximately 15 yards. This wall is made of rubble with ashlar dressing and features a five-bay arcade.
