Description
The chest tomb located to the south-west of the lych gate at the Parish Church of St. Swithun's dates from the mid to late 18th century. It is made of ashlar and features panelled sides along with a moulded cornice. The tomb is adorned with a decorative frieze that includes a cartouche with drapery, carved faces, and foliage. The chest tombs in Bathford Churchyard form a significant and diverse collection of classical and traditional local tomb styles, enhancing the overall setting of the church.
