Description
No. 8 Maltravers Street is a building dating from the 16th or 17th century or possibly earlier. It features a timber-framed structure with a red brick front that includes some grey headers. The roof is pitched and tiled, with a catslide on the north side, and there is a red brick chimney. The building has two storeys, with three casement windows that have glazing bars on the first floor and two on the ground floor. There is a planked door set in a plain deep reveal, accessed by two tiled steps. A cellar door is located at the west end of the building. The east side displays part of a former bressumer. No. 8 is part of a group with Nos. 2 to 10 (even) and Nos. 69 and 71 High Street, as well as the raised pavements on the north side of Maltravers Street.
