Description
56 Maltravers Street is a mid-18th century building, as indicated on an 1785 map. It features a stucco exterior that is rusticated on the east elevation and has a hipped slate roof with a red brick chimney. The building is two storeys tall. The south elevation includes three ranges of casement windows with glazing bars and a string course above the ground floor. The east elevation has a single planked door adorned with an elaborate mid-19th century knocker. This property, along with Nos 46 to 62 (even) and the retaining wall at No 60, forms a group with Nos 45 to 63 (odd) and 77 to 83 (odd), as well as the pavements and railings.
