Description
The raised pavement behind and above the longer raised pavement in front of Nos 32 to 38 Maltravers Street is a notable feature. It consists of a red brick retaining wall with Pulborough stone quoins, and a red brick parapet with Pulborough stone coping at the west end, which is integrated into the ground floor of No 38. There are iron railings with ten hexagonal posts that have shallow pointed caps, dated 1849, featuring a Norfolk lion in relief. The pavement is finished with limestone paving. This raised pavement is part of a group that includes Nos 2 to 10 Maltravers Street and Nos 69 and 71 High Street.
