Description

St John's is a house located on John Street in Shoreham-by-Sea, dating from around 1860. It is constructed of coursed cobblestone with red brick quoins and dressings. The building features a toothed red brick eaves cornice beneath a slate roof, which has gable parapets and end stacks. The house is two storeys high and has a three-storey projecting porch. It has three symmetrical bays, with double sash windows that have glazing bars only in the upper panes. The first floor of the porch includes a projecting shallow oriel that is corbelled out, featuring tall casement windows. The central entrance has panelled doors set within a hollow-chamfered pointed-arched surround. To the left of the house is a garage built in the 20th century, designed in a similar style, but it is not listed.
