Description
This is a house located at 53 Southdown Road in Shoreham-by-Sea, dating from the mid-18th century and rendered in the mid-19th century. The exterior features incised render with two moulded bands and a modillion cornice at the parapetted roof, which has end stacks. The building is three storeys high with a regular three-bay front. The first and second floors have moulded window surrounds, with bracketed cills and cornice-hoods on the first floor. The central window on the first floor is blocked, and the ground-floor windows do not have surrounds. Throughout the house, there are glazing bar sashes. The central entrance has an arched opening with a pilaster and entablature surround, leading to a panelled door with a fanlight. To the left, there is a two-storey wing featuring a large 20th-century square bay on the ground floor, along with a further extension to the left.
