Description
Eastland Cottage is a 17th-century cottage located on Horsham Road in Alfold. The building features whitewashed brick on the lower level and tile hanging above in a scalloped pattern, topped with a plain tiled roof that is hipped to the left and has a weatherboard gable end on the right. It has a rectangular plan with the original entrance now at the rear. The cottage is two storeys high and has a crow-stepped stack at the centre of the rear.
On the first floor, there are two casement windows in the old entrance front, one of which is leaded, along with a between-floors window and one window on the ground floor. A former door to the left of centre has been blocked. To the left, there is a brick and tile-hung extension that includes a further three-light window on each floor, with doors at the ends. The right-hand return front features a glazed door under a gabled hood supported by braces, flanked by a window. On the left-hand return front, there is a glazed door in the end of a pentice outshot.
Inside, the cottage has a deep brick fireplace with a salt cupboard and a wooden lintel, as well as chamfered ceiling beams.
