Description
Stovolds Hill is a house dating from around 1700, with late 19th century and early 20th century extensions on the left end. It has a timber frame that has been refronted in red brick, sitting on a sandstone rubble and block plinth, with brown and blue chequerwork brick to the left and red brick extensions at the rear. The roof is plain tiled, half-hipped, and features four oversailing gables at the front. The house is two storeys tall and has a square 19th century chimney stack on the right and a rebuilt corbelled stack on the left. The windows are leaded casements, with six on the first floor under segmental heads, along with one blocked panel on each side. There are five windows on the ground floor, also under similar heads, with blocked panels at the ends. A stable-style door is located to the right of centre, where there was previously a central door, and it has a flat hood above it. To the left is a half-glazed door under a cambered over-door, and there is another door set back to the right in the end of the wing, which has a hipped porch hood. Inside, the wall framing in the partitions and ceilings is exposed.
