Red Rose Cottages And The Donkey Door

Red Rose Cottages and The Donkey Door is a cottage and house, formerly part shop, located on the west side of The Street in Witley. The building dates back to the 16th century, with a 17th century extension in the form of a cross wing to the center right. It features a timber frame, clad in whitewashed brick on the right side, with exposed timber in the center and whitewashed brick and render infill. The roofs are plain tiled and step down to the left over the cottage, which has a tile-hung gable on the right end and a lower hip over the end extensions.

The structure is two storeys high, with one framed bay on the cottage. There is a loft door on the first floor and two casement windows on the ground floor. A half-glazed door is located at the center. The shop and house range is set back to the right and includes an attic window under the gable. There is one window on the first floor and an ogee brace on the gable. The ground floor features a cambered head casement window and a cambered head door. To the right, there is a one-storey and attic section with two gabled, cross leaded, through-eaves casements above two cambered head ground floor windows. A shop window is located on the ground floor to the right, beneath the hipped extension. A large corbelled stack is positioned to the right of the building.
