Description
Old Felcourt is a house dating from the 15th century, which was restored in the 19th century and extended in the 20th century. It features a timber frame with rendered cladding on the plinth below and exposed framing above on the first floor, with rendered infill. The building has brick extensions at the rear and plain tiled roofs that are hipped, with a corbelled rebuilt stack on the left and another stack on the right side of the return front. The house is oriented at right angles to the road and consists of two storeys.
The entrance front has an attic to the right, which is under a leaded gabled casement dormer. The right half of the front is set back slightly and has irregular fenestration, with one casement window on the left and a small casement on the right of the first floor. There is a sash window to the left on the ground floor and a casement window to the right. The central entrance features a 20th-century board door with leaded margin lights, set within a gabled projecting porch supported by wooden braces.
On the right-hand return front, which was the former entrance front, the framing is exposed and shows curved bracing with a gable at the centre. There is a pent roof extension at the right end. The first floor has four casement windows, with four more below. Additionally, there is one dormer and one eaves dormer window.
Inside, the house features a windbraced roof and close studding visible on the first floor. An original spiral stair leads from the first floor to the attic. The ceiling frames contain heavy spine beams, and there is a deep brick and stone fireplace in the main room.
