Description
Hook Farm House is a house dating back to the 17th century, with extensions and restoration work carried out in the early and later 20th centuries. The house is timber framed, with exposed framing and whitewashed render infilling the lower parts, and cladding on the right-hand return front. The first floor has whitewashed brick infill, and the rear is covered in tile hanging. The roof is tiled, with leaded casement dormers in the attic. The house has a T-shaped plan, two storeys, and attic space. It features three framed bays, with an external stack on the right end and a ridge stack at the rear. A diagonal buttress is present at the right end, and a diagonal brace on the first floor to the left. The first floor has two outer two-light windows and one single-light window. The front includes a ribbed lead roof over a projecting ground floor, an ogee-section eaves cornice, and fifteen-light windows wrapping around the canted angles, along with a single-light window to the left of centre. The central entrance is through half-glazed double doors. The right-hand return front displays an exposed queen post roof and a single-storey porch extension. The rear of the house has a double gable with a thin frame exposed below, and irregular casement windows.
