Description
Beresford Court is a house built in 1924 by Baillie Scott and Beresford for Mr. Stanley Farr. The building features re-used Tudor brick and has swept, hipped plain tiled roofs, with ridge stacks positioned to the left and right of the center and diagonal end stacks on the projecting wings. At the center, there is an open timber bellcote on a lead plinth, topped with a tiled pyramidal roof and a weathervane. The main structure has an E-shape plan with projecting wings at each end, creating a rectangular entrance courtyard.
Across the center, there are three projecting two-storey bays, with single-storey bays that include attics under flat roof dormers in between. The projecting end wings are single-storey with attics under flat roof dormers as well. The fenestration is irregular, featuring diamond pane leaded casements with stone and brick mullions, and three arched lancets on the left end. The central entrance has a planked door set within a two-step arched recessed porch.
On the garden front, there are angle bay windows on either side of the center, and projecting single-storey porches at the ends with two-step arched openings on their fronts. Inside, the living room is panelled and beamed, with a ceiling frame supported by two octagonal wooden columns with moulded capitals. The ground floor rooms have tiled fireplaces, and there is a barrel vaulted billiard room featuring a light fitting designed by Baillie Scott, shaped like a walled and domed city.
