Description
Church Rate Corner is a house built in 1924, designed by M H Baillie Scott. It is constructed of rendered brick and features plain tile roofs, along with three tall yellow brick chimney stacks. The house is two storeys high and has a garden front with four bays. The central two bays project slightly and are topped with gables. To the left, there is a wooden splayed bay window with iron casements and a flat leaded roof, while to the right, there is a small two-light wooden window with iron casements. Each side of the main structure has single-storey wings; the left wing features a five-light wooden window with iron casements, and the right wing has a four-light wooden window with iron casements. Above these windows are single four-light flat-headed dormers, also wooden with iron casements. The interior retains all its original features, including fireplaces, doors, cupboards, and moulded plaster cornices, with the exception of the kitchen and utility rooms, which have been recently altered. The original plans and drawings for this house are held by Cambridge City Council.
