Description

Frostlake Cottage, The Loft, and Malting Cottage form a group of buildings originally part of Little Newnham, dating to the early 19th century, with later alterations. Originally a single house and stables, the structures have been divided into several properties.

Frostlake Cottage is a brick building, painted, with a gable end to the street. It is two storeys and an attic, with one window. It features sashes with glazing bars and has a slate roof. Early 19th-century staircase details are present internally.

The Loft is probably originally the stables to Little Newnham, dating to the 18th century and subsequently altered. It is a single storey and an attic, constructed of brick, and has a tiled roof. Five attic dormers are visible. The ground floor features a door and stable doors.

Malting Cottage is also early 19th century, constructed of brick with a gable end to the street. It is two storeys and an attic, with one window featuring sashes with glazing bars and a slate roof. A good brick chimney is a prominent feature.

The buildings in Frostlake Cottage and the others in Malting Lane are considered to form a group value context with the Malting House on Newnham Road. Original internal features include plaster cornices.
