Description
Walls Cottage is a 17th-century cottage that features a timber frame resting on a rubblestone plinth. The exterior showcases exposed framing with white-washed brick infill below and weatherboard cladding above. It has a plain tiled roof that is half hipped to the right, and a large rear offset central double stack on a rubble stone base. The cottage is two storeys high with two framed bays. On the first floor, there are two three-light casements and one single light casement, while the ground floor has two three-light casements. To the right, there is a planked door set in a gabled porch supported by wooden posts, which has dado walls; there is an identical porch at the left end. A catslide extension runs across the right-hand return front, and there is a flat-roofed single-storey extension to the rear left. Inside, the framing is visible in the walls and ceilings, featuring chamfered spine beams. The original end staircase and deep brick fireplaces with wooden lintels are also present.
