Description
Mackie's Hill is a 17th-century cottage featuring a timber frame of thin scantling, which is exposed with brick infill. The left-hand return front is constructed of sandstone rubble and is galleted, while the rear has a tile-hung gable. The cottage has a plain tiled half-hipped roof and stands two storeys high, comprising three framed bays. There is a front ridge stack on the left end and a ridge stack on the rear wing. The first floor showcases curved bracing, and the windows are leaded casements. There are two windows on each floor, along with one ground floor window to the right in a pentice extension. A plank door is located to the left of centre. An extension was added to the right in 1984, which includes a wing at the rear that is set at right angles.
