Description
Western Cottages is a pair of cottages dating from the early 18th century. They are constructed of sandstone rubble with brick dressings and ironstone galleting, topped with a plain tiled roof that features diamond-tile hanging on the gable ends. The cottages are two storeys high, standing on plinths, with a plat band above the ground floor and a central rendered stack. The first floor has four casement windows, with two on either side of a blocked window, while the ground floor has two windows under cambered heads. There are doors at either end, also under cambered heads. At the rear, there are wings that extend at right angles, each with end stacks. These cottages are included in the listing for their group value.
