Description
The Church of St Mark is a church built in 1889 by Ewan Christian. It is constructed of sandstone rubble and features a tiled roof with a shingled spirelet that has a metal clock face. The building has a simple apsidal-ended design and includes an attached vestry. The west front is marked by a bell gable and a triple lancet window set within an arch that incorporates two circular windows. The south porch has a sandstone base with wooden trefoils above and a gable adorned with curved fretted bargeboards. The rest of the church features simple lancet windows, except for the paired lancet windows with circular windows above the vestry.
Inside, the church has an arch-braced roof. The apse contains stained glass windows depicting St Luke, St Mark, Mary the Virgin, Christ, and Michael the Archangel, along with two panels representing Faith and Hope from 1899. The south window of the nave includes a window from 1896 and another from 1926 that depicts St Bertha and St Augustine. The west window features stained glass from 1912. The interior also includes a circular stone font, original bench pews, a tiled floor, a lectern, and a pulpit.
