Description
Forge Cottage and Pearl Cottage are a pair of cottages dating from the early 18th century. They are constructed of red brick and have a plain tiled roof. The buildings are two storeys high with an attic, set on a plinth. The roof features a brick eaves cornice and a segmental headed kneelered parapet gable on the left. There are three gabled dormers and four stacks located at the rear.
The front has a regular arrangement of windows, including three glazing bar sash windows and two 20th-century metal casements on the first floor, and two glazing bar sashes along with one metal casement on the ground floor, all with segmental heads. The left side has a door with six raised and fielded panels, while the right side has a boarded door; both doors are topped with flat hoods supported by brackets. At the rear, there is a large catslide outshot with substantial free-standing stacks. The cottages are included for their group value.
