Description
Nos. 87 and 89 on The Street are a pair of mid-19th century cottages. They are rendered and feature a plain tiled roof. The cottages stand two storeys high on a plinth, with rusticated quoins and a brick corbelled eaves cornice that supports the double span roof, which has hips that return to the road front. There are stacks at both the left and right ends, with a catslide roof on the right side. The windows are arranged regularly, with three sashes on the first floor and two segmental-headed sashes on the ground floor. The central doorway has a lintel and a moulded semi-circular head that forms a tympanum. There is a recessed porch with two boarded and glazed doors. The cottages appear to have had some charitable connections, and there is an unlisted public building attached on the left.
