Description

ASH THE STREET TR 2858 (north side) 10/52 Vine House & Vine Cottage GV II Two houses. C18 altered mid C19. Red brick, plain tiled roof. Road front (Vine Cottage): 2 storeys with painted quoins. Hipped roof and stack to centre left. Two irregularly sized wooden casements on each floor with painted heads on ground floor and central half-glazed door with flat hood and painted head. Right return (Vine House); mid C19 Old English composition. 2 storeys and garret, with moulded bresummer to 2 bargeboarded gables, with applied half-timbering and terracotta pinnacles. Stacks to left and to right. One sash in each gable, with rounded upper leaves. Two sashes on first floor, and 2 canted bays on ground floor. Central 2 storey porch, hipped, with round headed sash on first floor, and open porch on ground floor, supported on piers with valancing to moulded cornice. Door of 6 panels, the top 2 glazed. Single storey garage extension to right. Included for group value with Griffin Cottage.
