Description

Vine Cottage and Worcester Cottage form a small, now unified house located on the north side of Cookham High Street. Vine Cottage was built in the late 18th century, while Worcester Cottage is an early 17th-century structure that was refaced in the 18th century.

Vine Cottage is constructed of painted brick with an old tile gabled roof. It has a symmetrical three-bay front with end chimneys topped with clay pots, dentilled and offset brick eaves. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars, set within architrave frames. A 20th-century moulded panelled door, with a glazed upper portion, is placed under a simple hood supported by brackets.

Worcester Cottage is a timber-frame building encased in painted brick, also with an old tile gabled roof. It has a rectangular plan of one framed bay. A plat band runs around the building, and the eaves are dentilled and offset. A two-light casement window is present on both the first and ground floors; the ground floor window is deeper and features a segmental arch. A half-glazed entrance door is situated on the left-hand side. The interior of Worcester Cottage retains some visible timber framing, including a queen post roof on the first floor.
