Description
The Old Butchers Shop is a Grade II listed building located on the north side of Cookham High Street. Originally two cottages from the early 17th century, it was refaced in the 18th century. The structure features a timber frame that is partially encased in painted brick and has an old tile roof. It has a rectangular plan with an extension at the rear and stands two storeys tall.
A ridge chimney is positioned left of center, featuring an offset head and tall clay pots. The eaves are dentilled and offset. The front of the building has three bays. On the ground floor, there are two 2-light casements with glazing bars, each with segmental heads. The first floor has a similar central casement with two extra lights that break the eaves, flanked by the same style of casements. The ground floor also includes a 19th-century shop window with glazing bars, fluted pilasters, and a panelled stable door to the right. Below the shop window, there is a ceramic tile stall riser.
