Description
Honeysuckle Cottage is a Grade II listed building located in Ashleworth, dating from the early to mid-18th century. Originally two semi-detached cottages, it has been converted into one house. The structure features brick-nogged timber-framing with brick gables and a tiled roof. It consists of four bays and is one and a half storeys tall, with a depth of one room. The timber framing has three panels high at the eaves, with near square panels and a stone plinth. The brick gables frame the side walls, which are 115mm exposed.
The cottage has two-light casement windows, with the left window having an exposed beam end above and a half-glazed door. There is also an exposed beam end to the left of the window, a blocked doorway, and another window with a further beam end above it. At each end of the building, there are external brick chimneys with tiled offsets, and a stone projection on one side that supports a tiled lean-to roof for an oven. The rear wall is fully framed with no openings. Inside, there are heavy chamfers on the ceiling beams, and at the right end, there is a large fireplace with an oven off to the side. The cottage formerly had dormer windows and is an example of the late stage in timber framing, marking a transition to brick construction.
