Description

The two Roberts monuments are located in the churchyard about 7 meters north of the north-west corner of the tower of the Church of St Andrew and St Bartholomew. These monuments consist of a chest tomb and a wide pedestal tomb, commemorating William Roberts, who died in 1785, and another individual who died in 1848.

The chest tomb features a flat lid with a moulded edge, quarter-square corner balusters, and gadrooning on the capitals. The sides have rectangular panels with fluted fielding, while the ends are oval within a rectangular frame. It has a moulded base and rests on stone paving. There are later inscriptions, including one on the lid.

The pedestal tomb is large and square in plan, with a weathered top and a step. It has a moulded edge to the lid, a cornice, and fluted corner columns. The sides have sunk rectangular panels and a moulded top to the plinth, supported by a wide stone base. This tomb features various inscriptions dating from 1848 to 1914.
