Description

The Clarke Monument is a pedestal tomb located in the churchyard about 6 meters west of the north-west corner of the tower of the Church of St. Andrew and St. Bartholomew. It commemorates Clarke, who died in 1835. The tomb is made of stone and features a steep cyma top with a moulded design in two stages. The lid has a moulded edge, and the sides have a plain frieze with sunk rectangles. The plinth has a moulded top and is supported by a wide stone base that originally held iron railings. The corners of the monument are indented, and there are later inscriptions present.
