Description

Mailly Cottage is a house that dates back to the 16th century or earlier, with later alterations. It features brick-nogged timber framing and a tiled roof. The building consists of two bays and is one room deep, standing at one and a half storeys high. The facade facing the road has framing that is two panels high. On the right side, there is a two-light casement window with an iron opening light. To the left, there is a lean-to extension at the front with boarded walls and a corrugated-iron roof. This extension has a two-light window in the centre and a boarded door to the left, along with a half-glazed section to the left that contains four tall single panes. The main part of the cottage has a half-hip roof and a central brick chimney on the ridge.

On the right return, there is a base cruck and a tie beam, with framing that also links two panels high. There are late 20th-century wooden casement windows on the left and a metal two-light window on the right, with another late 20th-century two-light casement window above. The left gable is rendered, and there are various lean-tos on the left end that are not of special interest. The interior has not been inspected.
