Description

Vine Cottage and the adjoining cottage are part of a row of houses dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century, with a front that may belong to an earlier structure. The buildings are constructed of red brick with occasional grey headers in Flemish bond, and the left gable end is tile-hung on the first floor. They have a plain tile roof and are two storeys high. The right end is set on a brick plinth with a semi-basement, while the rest has a stone plinth. There is an interrupted plat band above the two left-hand ground floor windows, and a higher single-course brick string with a broad-brick relieving arch above the doors. The roof is hipped, with the hips returning.

The rear features stacks towards both the left and right. The windows are arranged irregularly, with four casements: two three-light windows on the left half, one three-light window above the doors, and one two-light window on the right end. The two left ground-floor windows have segmental heads and projecting brick keystones, while the right end has a horizontally-sliding sash window. There are a pair of boarded doors with flat bracketed hoods, separated by a two-light casement, located to the right of centre, each accessed by four steps with an iron handrail. A half-glazed door is situated on the left gable end, also accessed by four steps. The interior has not been inspected.
