Description

This is a row of three houses, April Cottage, Beaufort Cottage, and Fern Cottage, located on the south side of Eyhorne Street in Hollingbourne. The facades date from the late 18th century, although the core structure may be earlier, potentially from the 17th century. The houses are timber-framed with beaded weatherboarding to the ground floor and a rendered finish to the first floor. The roof is covered with plain tiles and has a half-hipped design. The houses sit on a stone plinth, with a moulded wooden string course above the ground floor weatherboarding, and a boxed wooden eaves cornice. Two brick stacks are visible; a larger one is to the left of the centre, and a smaller one towards the right end of the row. There are five windows on each floor, each with 16 panes of glass. A 20th-century ribbed door leads to No. 28, accessed by three steps with plain iron handrails. A panelled door is located below the left-hand stack, giving access to No. 26. A panelled door is also present to the right gable end, giving access to No. 14. The interior has not been inspected.
