Description
Gambia Cottages is a row of houses dating from the early 19th century, with No. 2 formerly serving as a shop and now functioning as a house. The cottages are timber-framed and weatherboarded, topped with a plain tile roof. They are double depth and feature two storeys set on a stone plinth, with a hipped roof that has hips returning around the side elevations. There are two red brick stacks at the rear. The front has a regular arrangement of windows, with two glazing-bar sashes on the upper floor and those on the ground floor having shallow board hoods above. On either side, there are single-storey weatherboarded lean-tos with plain tiles, slightly recessed from the main elevation and built on brick plinths. The entrance to No. 2 is a boarded door located at the left end, topped with a shallow flat hood supported by small shaped brackets. No. 1 features 20th-century glazed double doors in the lean-to on the right, both entrances accessed by three steps. The interiors have not been inspected.
