Ledian Farmhouse

Ledian Farmhouse is a timber-framed farmhouse with a rear wing dating to the first half of the 16th century and a front range built in the mid to late 17th century, with alterations in the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries. The front range is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond with a timber-framed core. The farmhouse has a lobby entry plan. It stands on a galletted stone plinth with a plat band in English bond and features a plain wood eaves cornice. The roof is half-hipped and topped by a tall central brick ridge stack with fillet detailing. The front has a regular five-window arrangement of wood mullioned and transomed windows with leaded lights. A central, mid-20th century panelled door with a leaded rectangular fanlight sits under a simple wooden porch. The rear wing to the left is timber-framed with rendered infilling. The left side elevation is of galletted stone with brick dressings, and the gable end and part of the right side elevation are of galletted stone with 16th-century red brick dressings. It has multiple brick ridge stacks to the rear. A short, two-story rear wing sits in the angle between the main range and the left wing. A 19th-century rear lean-to extends from the rest of the main range. The interior features a large 16th-century inglenook at the rear of the left wing, with a moulded bressumer and a 4-centred arch with hollow spandrels. There are 17th-century stone fireplaces in the front range, along with exposed timbers. The interior was partly inspected.
